Luxior, Giada's Gift card art
Luxior, Giada's Gift turns any planeswalker into a creature — and more importantly, it breaks the rule that prevents planeswalkers from untapping to go infinite, which is the entire reason Devoted Druid combos and Indominus Rex, Alpha builds chase it. The cost is negligible: one mana to cast, one to equip, and you've opened a combo lane that the card's design was explicitly meant to close off.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Indominus Rex, Alpha

Indominus Rex, Alpha

40.6% of decks · synergy 0.39

Indominus Rex, Alpha wants Luxior, Giada's Gift because equipping it to a planeswalker lets Indominus attack with it as a creature, triggering the keyword-soup ability on a permanent that otherwise just sits and ticks — and since Indominus cares about creatures with counters, a loyalty-stacked planeswalker becomes a deeply synergistic attacker.

02
Carth the Lion

Carth the Lion

21.9% of decks · synergy 0.21

Carth the Lion's passive adds an extra loyalty counter to every planeswalker activation, and Luxior, Giada's Gift converts that loyalty accumulation into combat power — the bigger the planeswalker gets, the bigger the creature Carth sends into battle.

03
Dihada, Binder of Wills

Dihada, Binder of Wills

19.7% of decks · synergy 0.19

Dihada, Binder of Wills is herself a legendary planeswalker, so Luxior, Giada's Gift turns the commander directly into a Legendary creature attacker, enabling Dihada to swing while still threatening ultimate progress — and the Legendary subtype matters for supporting pieces in the 99.

04

Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh

15.6% of decks · synergy 0.15

Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh flips into a planeswalker naturally, and Luxior, Giada's Gift lets the planeswalker side attack as a creature — bypassing the design tension between Chandra's creature and planeswalker states by making both sides relevant in combat.

05
Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes

Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes

13.0% of decks · synergy 0.12

Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes generates a Hamster token and pumps it with counters, and Luxior, Giada's Gift converts Minsc & Boo themselves into a creature that can attack alongside Boo — doubling the board presence the deck wants for its go-wide-and-punch game plan.

Commander is where Luxior, Giada's Gift does its real work: planeswalker-as-commander builds, Devoted Druid combo shells, and any deck that wants to weaponize loyalty counters all have strong reasons to run it. In Modern and Legacy, the card sees occasional fringe play in Devoted Druid combo lists that want redundancy on the untap-without-dying line, but it's not a staple in either format. Pioneer-legal but largely absent from the competitive metagame there — the combo infrastructure isn't deep enough to support it consistently. Luxior, Giada's Gift is a Commander card at heart, and that's where you should evaluate it.

Pricing data isn't available at the moment, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for a current market number before buying. Luxior, Giada's Gift is a low-print-run Collector Booster exclusive from a New Capenna release, which historically keeps a floor under cards with genuine combo demand — expect to pay a premium relative to its raw play rate.
