Lagrella, the Magpie card art
Lagrella, the Magpie is a three-mana board interaction piece that exiles up to one creature each player controls — including your own — and staples those creatures to itself until it leaves play, at which point everything returns under its owner's control. The catch is also the combo: bouncing Lagrella, the Magpie with something like Felidar Guardian lets you reset your own creature's triggers while permanently stranding opponents' pieces if Lagrella never returns.

Lagrella, the Magpie is almost exclusively a Commander card — the ETB exile effect is powerful enough at four players where removing three creatures at once swings the whole table, and the blink abuse potential is easy to build around in a singleton format. In Modern and Pioneer, a four-mana 3/3 with a symmetrical exile clause is too slow and too fragile; dedicated removal spells do the job cleaner without handing the opponent a roadmap to getting their creature back. Legacy and Vintage have the same problem compounded — the format speed makes Lagrella irrelevant before it can matter. In Commander, though, it earns its slot anywhere that runs Conjurer's Closet, Teleportation Circle, or any flicker engine, and it doubles as a political bargaining chip in longer games.

Price Context

Current price

$0.21 bulk tier

At $0.21, Lagrella, the Magpie is bulk, and that price reflects its narrow competitive appeal rather than its Commander power ceiling. Supply is high enough that the price is stable — pick up copies freely without worrying about overpaying.
