Jhoira's Timebug card art
Jhoira's Timebug lets you move a time counter off a suspended card on demand — accelerating Jhoira of the Ghitu's biggest threats by a full turn, or rescuing a suspended Arcane Bombardment when the board demands it now. The cost is a 1/2 body for two mana that does nothing without a suspend target in play, making it a strict role-player rather than a standalone piece.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Jhoira of the Ghitu

Jhoira of the Ghitu

83.9% of decks · synergy 0.83

Jhoira of the Ghitu suspends everything, and Jhoira's Timebug is the engine's throttle — every activation shaves a turn off an exiled threat, letting you sequence multiple explosives on the same combat step. An 84% inclusion rate across over four thousand decks confirms this is the primary home.

02
The Tenth DoctorRose Tyler

The Tenth Doctor // Rose Tyler

54.9% of decks · synergy 0.53

The Tenth Doctor // Rose Tyler cares about cards with suspend, and Jhoira's Timebug both triggers that payoff and accelerates whatever you've exiled — the two halves reinforce each other cleanly. Over half of Tenth Doctor lists run it for exactly that reason.

03
Gandalf of the Secret Fire

Gandalf of the Secret Fire

35.8% of decks · synergy 0.34

Gandalf of the Secret Fire rewards casting instants and sorceries for free, and a steady stream of accelerated suspend spells feeds that trigger repeatedly. Jhoira's Timebug provides the counter manipulation that keeps the engine moving without spending additional mana.

04
Alaundo the Seer

Alaundo the Seer

33.3% of decks · synergy 0.33

Alaundo the Seer puts cards into a suspend-like exile queue, and Jhoira's Timebug can strip counters off those exiled cards to advance the line faster. About a third of Alaundo builds include it as straightforward acceleration for the commander's built-in mechanic.

Jhoira's Timebug is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but Commander is the only format where it earns a slot. In competitive Pauper, Legacy, or Modern, a two-mana 1/2 that requires an active suspend card to do anything meaningful at all doesn't clear the bar — those formats have no tolerance for this level of dependency. Commander's slower pace and the density of suspend payoffs available in the 99 are what make Jhoira's Timebug functional, and even there it's a role-player locked to specific commanders rather than a broadly useful card.

Price Context

Current price

$0.34 bulk tier

At $0.34, Jhoira's Timebug is bulk — easy to acquire, easy to cut if your build doesn't need the counter acceleration. Narrow role-players at this price tier don't appreciate; pick it up as a cheap piece of the engine and don't think twice about it.
