In Commander, Isamaru, Hound of Konda's primary home is as a piece in the 99 under Jasmine Boreal of the Seven or similar textless-matters builds, though it also sees play as a budget one-drop in white aggro and weenie strategies. In Legacy and Vintage, it competes with Elite Vanguard and Champion of the Parish for the one-mana white creature slot, and the lack of abilities typically means it loses that competition outside of niche legendary-matters shells. Modern players have access to substantially better one-drops, so Isamaru sees almost no competitive play there. Oathbreaker is where its legendary status occasionally matters, but even there the format's faster pace exposes the vanilla body.
