Innkeeper's Talent lands and immediately starts generating card advantage — level it up and it snowballs into a serious threat on its own. The cost is that it's an enchantment with no immediate board presence, so shells that already put counters on permanents, like Sab-Sunen, Luxa Embodied or Vraska, Betrayal's Sting, get far more mileage than decks that have to work for every level.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Sab-Sunen, Luxa Embodied
Sab-Sunen, Luxa Embodied proliferates repeatedly, which means Innkeeper's Talent levels up for free every time the engine fires — the card draw and counters compound quickly without spending extra mana on level-up activations.

Zimone, Paradox Sculptor
Zimone, Paradox Sculptor cares about drawing extra cards and putting counters on things, so Innkeeper's Talent feeds both halves of that engine while pulling ahead on resources turn after turn.

Wolverine, Best There Is
Wolverine, Best There Is wants the deck durable and aggressive, and Innkeeper's Talent provides steady card draw to keep the hand full while the counters it generates feed directly into Wolverine's damage-based game plan.

Jenova, Ancient Calamity
Jenova, Ancient Calamity runs a counter-stacking strategy where every additional +1/+1 counter matters, and Innkeeper's Talent slots in as both a level-up payoff and a draw engine that keeps the gas flowing.

Carth the Lion
Carth the Lion makes planeswalkers enter with an extra loyalty counter and boosts their activations, and since Innkeeper's Talent levels up like a planeswalker, Carth effectively accelerates it one stage ahead on entry — a direct synergy that no other enchantment in the slot can claim.

In Commander, Innkeeper's Talent earns its slot in any deck that can reliably proliferate or trigger level-up multiple times — the card draw at level two and the counters at level three turn a two-mana enchantment into a mid-game engine. Outside Commander, Innkeeper's Talent is legal across Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it has seen the most competitive traction in Standard and Pioneer where aggressive green strategies can level it up quickly and the card draw punishes midrange mirrors. In older formats, the competition is stiff enough that Innkeeper's Talent rarely makes the cut over more immediate payoffs, but it remains a real threat anywhere the game slows down long enough for it to grow.
