Everybody Lives! saves your entire board and every opponent's board from destruction for a single white mana — the effect is roughly a one-sided Teferi's Protection stapled to a group hug, except it costs less than a Sol Ring activation. Commanders like The Tenth Doctor // Rose Tyler run it as a literal combo piece, and Soulfire Grand Master can rebuy it from the graveyard to make the protection repeatable.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

The Tenth Doctor // Rose Tyler
The Tenth Doctor // Rose Tyler runs Everybody Lives! in over 70% of builds because the card's flavor tag triggers the Doctor's "Allons-y" ability, generating a free Saga — it's not just protection, it's an engine piece that replaces itself with card advantage.

Gluntch, the Bestower
Gluntch, the Bestower is a group-hug commander that wants the game to last, and Everybody Lives! is the cleanest way to nullify a board wipe that would otherwise end the fun — keeping all creatures alive means Gluntch's triggers keep flowing for everyone.

Sokrates, Athenian Teacher
Sokrates, Athenian Teacher rewards players for casting instants and sorceries, and Everybody Lives! is a cheap instant that protects the board state Sokrates needs to keep teaching — one mana for indestructibility is an extremely efficient trigger enabler.

Phelddagrif
Phelddagrif is the canonical group hug commander, and Everybody Lives! fits perfectly because protecting every player's creatures signals goodwill while also saving your own hippo from targeted removal or wraths.

Iroh, Tea Master
Iroh, Tea Master wants creatures to survive combat and stick around for value triggers, and Everybody Lives! keeps that board intact through whatever removal or wrath an opponent throws mid-combat or end step.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Everybody Lives! is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but its real home is Commander — a format where board wipes are ubiquitous and one white mana for indestructibility on every creature is a dramatic tempo swing. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically castable but has no meaningful role; those formats aren't fighting over creature boards the way Commander pods are, and a one-shot indestructibility spell that does nothing to spells or permanents doesn't compete. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander format where it has a plausible niche, since the smaller board states still incentivize protecting key creatures cheaply. Everywhere else, Everybody Lives! is a Commander card through and through.

Cheaper options that do most of the same work
If Everybody Lives! is out of budget, Unbreakable Formation and Flawless Maneuver both cost under $1 and grant indestructibility to your creatures through an end step — the key trade-off is they don't protect your opponents' boards, which matters for group hug builds and for flavor-triggered commanders like The Tenth Doctor. Neither replacement replaces the unique cross-table coverage that makes Everybody Lives! the correct card in those specific shells, but for pure board protection in a non-group-hug deck, Unbreakable Formation is the closest functional substitute.
Price Context
Current price
$16.46 mid tier
At $16.46, Everybody Lives! sits in mid-tier pricing for a Commander staple — expensive enough to feel like a deliberate purchase, but justified by the combination of low mana cost and uniquely broad effect that no cheaper card fully replicates. It holds its price because the demand is real and specific: no other one-mana instant protects every creature on every side of the table.
