Dwarven Mine card art
Dwarven Mine enters tapped and produces only red mana, but it brings a 1/1 Dwarf token with it whenever you control three or more Mountains — that's a land slot doing creature work. In Kodama of the East Tree shells and Magda, Brazen Outlaw lists, that token is never just a body; it's treasure fuel, a trigger, or a free ETB on a land drop.

Magda, Brazen Outlaw

Magda, Brazen Outlaw

49.6% of decks · synergy 0.40

Dwarven Mine is nearly a staple here — every Dwarf token Magda, Brazen Outlaw taps for treasure pushes the five-treasure threshold closer, turning a land drop into accelerated tutor access.

02
Zada, Hedron Grinder

Zada, Hedron Grinder

48.7% of decks · synergy 0.39

Dwarven Mine supplies a free target for Zada, Hedron Grinder's copy-spell engine; one cheap cantrip or pump spell aimed at Zada now hits the Dwarf token too, multiplying card draw or power without spending an extra slot.

03
Purphoros, God of the Forge

Purphoros, God of the Forge

44.8% of decks · synergy 0.35

The Dwarf token from Dwarven Mine triggers Purphoros, God of the Forge for two damage the moment it arrives, making this land pull double duty as both mana source and a repeatable damage ping on the land step.

05
Magnus the Red

Magnus the Red

16.0% of decks · synergy 0.15

Dwarven Mine gives Magnus the Red a free creature to copy-spell across, and in token-doubler builds the Dwarf synergizes with the go-wide strategy Magnus rewards with his mass-pump ability.

Commander is where Dwarven Mine actually matters — the singleton rule makes every Mountain-subtype land with upside worth evaluating, and the Dwarf token is a genuine payoff in tribal and ETB-heavy red builds. In Pauper it's legal but rarely played; most red aggressive lists want lands that enter untapped, and the token condition requires three Mountains in play before it triggers. Modern and Pioneer have the same problem: aggro and midrange can't afford a tapped land with a conditional rider. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters for obvious reasons. Treat Dwarven Mine as a Commander-specific card that occasionally sees fringe play wherever Dwarf synergies appear.

Price Context

Current price

$0.34 bulk tier

At $0.34, Dwarven Mine is firmly bulk — you're paying for cardboard and postage, not the card itself. Bulk rarely appreciates unless a new commander breaks the card wide open, so pick up copies for active decks now and don't stockpile.
