Magda, Brazen Outlaw card art
Magda, Brazen Outlaw turns every tapped Dwarf into a treasure and every five treasures into a free Dragon or artifact from your library — the payoff is enormous for a two-mana creature. The ceiling gets obscene with Clock of Omens looping untaps, and she slots into Dargo, the Shipwrecker // Tymna the Weaver as both a treasure engine and a cheap creature to fuel Dargo's cost reduction.

Dargo, the ShipwreckerTymna the Weaver

Dargo, the Shipwrecker // Tymna the Weaver

75.6% of decks · synergy 0.70

Dargo, the Shipwrecker // Tymna the Weaver runs Magda, Brazen Outlaw because she does two jobs at once: her treasures reduce Dargo's commander tax to near zero, and her five-treasure activation tutors the artifacts that close the loop.

03
Kediss, Emberclaw FamiliarMalcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator

Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar // Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator

55.6% of decks · synergy 0.54

Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator floods the board with treasures on combat damage, and Magda, Brazen Outlaw converts that surplus directly into tutored Dragons or artifacts — Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar // Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator treats her as a free win condition stapled to the treasure plan.

04
Knuckles the Echidna

Knuckles the Echidna

54.1% of decks · synergy 0.50

Knuckles the Echidna's dig-and-steal gameplan generates enough artifact and creature triggers to keep Magda, Brazen Outlaw producing treasures consistently, and her tutor activation gives the deck a repeatable threat-fetching outlet.

05
Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer

Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer

41.2% of decks · synergy 0.38

Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer already wants cheap red creatures that reward combat success, and Magda, Brazen Outlaw's treasure generation stacks with Ragavan's own treasure production to accelerate the five-counter threshold faster than either does alone.

Format Analysis

FormatVerdict

oathbreaker

Commander is where Magda, Brazen Outlaw is most dangerous — a two-mana commander who can tutor any Dragon or artifact directly into play is a genuine engine, and the multiplayer table gives her enough time to accumulate the five treasures needed before she ends the game. In Legacy and Vintage she's a niche role-player, occasionally showing up in Dwarf tribal or artifact storm shells that can exploit her activation at near-instant speed with untap effects, but she's never a format staple there. Modern and Pioneer see almost no play for her; the formats move too fast for a tap-to-generate-treasure gameplan to pay off without dedicated support that doesn't yet exist at a competitive density. Oathbreaker gives her a home similar to Commander if the signature spell aligns — something like Trash for Treasure or a tutor can close games quickly.

Price Context

Current price

$2.42 cheap tier

At $2.42, Magda, Brazen Outlaw sits in the cheap tier and is firmly underpriced for what she does in Commander. That price reflects casual availability rather than power level — she's a near-auto-include in any red artifact or Dwarf shell, and that demand should keep the floor stable.
