Dress Down wipes all static abilities from every creature on the battlefield for a turn — shutting off protection, death triggers, and lord buffs at instant speed for two mana. Cards like Medomai the Ageless lose their extra-turn lock completely, and The Master of Keys uses it to deliberately blank its own creatures' abilities as part of a combo engine.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

The Master of Keys
The Master of Keys runs Dress Down in over half its decks because stripping abilities off creatures is the point — it enables artifact-creature combo lines that require creatures to enter without unwanted triggered abilities in the way.

Talion, the Kindly Lord
Talion, the Kindly Lord uses Dress Down as interaction that also feeds the hand-size and card-draw pressure the deck wants to maintain, since blanking opponents' creatures at instant speed doubles as a combat trick and a disruptive play.

Katara, Waterbending Master
Katara, Waterbending Master reaches for Dress Down to neutralize blockers with relevant static abilities mid-combat, clearing the path for the tempo attacks the deck is built around.

Errant and Giada
Errant and Giada includes Dress Down as cheap, flexible interaction that doesn't cost card advantage — a two-mana cantrip that disrupts the table fits cleanly into the low-curve aggressive shell.

In Commander, Dress Down is at its best: multiplayer tables are full of creatures with game-warping static abilities, and the cantrip stapled to it means you're never trading a card for a temporary effect. In Legacy and Vintage, it sees play specifically because it invalidates Death's Shadow's self-damage drawback and powers up Phyrexian Dreadnought by removing its enters-the-battlefield ability before the sacrifice trigger resolves — precise, powerful applications in a way Commander's broader toolbox role isn't. Modern adopted the same Dreadnought-style synergies and uses it as a flexible hate piece against creature-heavy strategies. Pioneer and Standard never got access to it, and Pauper's card pool excludes it by rarity.

Current price
$0.55 bulk tier
At $0.55, Dress Down sits firmly in bulk territory despite being a genuinely playable card across multiple formats. That price reflects wide supply rather than low demand — pick up copies freely, because a card this versatile rarely stays this cheap if it gets reprinted into a high-visibility product.
