Dire Fleet Hoarder card art
Dire Fleet Hoarder is a 2/1 for two that replaces itself with a Treasure when it dies — cheap enough to slot into any black sacrifice shell without thought. Scorched Rusalka and similar free-sac outlets turn that death trigger into a repeatable resource engine, and Evereth, Viceroy of Plunder makes the Treasure itself another trigger waiting to happen.

Evereth, Viceroy of Plunder cares about Treasures entering and leaving, so Dire Fleet Hoarder does double duty — it's a body to sacrifice and a Treasure source in one two-mana package, keeping Evereth's engine fed without spending extra cards.

In Commander, Dire Fleet Hoarder is a role-player in sacrifice and Treasure synergy decks, not a headliner — it shows up because it's cheap, replaces itself, and triggers on-death payoffs without asking anything in return. Pauper is where it sees the most competitive scrutiny, since every card has to pull weight at common and a 2/1 that makes a Treasure on death is a reasonable rate in black aggro or aristocrats shells. In Modern and Pioneer it's largely outclassed by creatures that do more for the same mana, so it only appears in focused sacrifice lists that specifically want redundancy on the Treasure-death trigger. Legacy and Vintage have far more powerful options at every point on the curve, so Dire Fleet Hoarder is essentially invisible there.

Price Context

Current price

$0.09 bulk tier

At $0.09, Dire Fleet Hoarder is deep bulk — pick up a dozen copies without a second thought. Bulk commons at this price point rarely move unless a new commander pushes the mechanic into the spotlight, so don't expect it to budge.
