Chandra, the Firebrand

In Commander, Chandra, the Firebrand is a fringe inclusion — the copy effect is powerful but four mana for a planeswalker that doesn't immediately stabilize the board or generate card advantage is a tough sell in a 100-card singleton format where threats are everywhere. In Legacy and Vintage she sees no meaningful play; those formats move too fast and too efficiently for a four-mana planeswalker with a marginal minus and an ultimate that takes three full turns to reach. Modern is the same story — she never found a home there either, outclassed by cheaper threats. Oathbreaker is where Chandra, the Firebrand is most interesting: as a signature spell platform she pairs naturally with red spell-slinger commanders, and the copy ability on a repeatable source is genuinely threatening in a lower-power environment.
