Planebound Accomplice card art
Planebound Accomplice puts any planeswalker into play for one red mana — you just return it at end of turn, which barely matters when the enter-the-battlefield ability already fired. Pair it with Cloudstone Curio and the bouncing becomes a feature, not a drawback.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander

oathbreaker

Commander is where Planebound Accomplice actually lives — planeswalker-density is high enough that the one-red discount is meaningful, and the end-of-turn bounce is trivially exploited with flicker effects or loop pieces. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but sees no play; the formats move too fast for a two-mana creature whose payoff depends on having planeswalkers to cheat in. Oathbreaker is the sleeper format for this card: your signature spell can be cast repeatedly, and Planebound Accomplice effectively lets you double-activate your oathbreaker for a single red mana, which is genuinely broken in the right shell.

Price Context

Current price

$0.23 bulk tier

At $0.23, Planebound Accomplice is deep bulk despite being a niche combo enabler with a real ceiling in planeswalker builds. The price is stable — demand is narrow enough that no reprint pressure exists, but the card never spikes because the decks that want it are a small slice of the Commander metagame.
