March of the Machines turns The One Ring into a creature so Voltaic Construct can untap it for 2; each tap adds a burden counter and draws that many cards, and two discards to Skirge Familiar refund the untap cost. The loop requires the Ring to already carry two counters, which means the first activation cycle is setup — it pays off fast, but the board state needs a turn to breathe before it goes off.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

The One Ring has at least two burden counters on it and does not have summoning sickness.

02

Steps

  1. Activate The One Ring by tapping it, putting a burden counter on it and causing you to draw a card for each burden counter on it.
  2. Activate Skirge Familiar twice by discarding two cards, adding {B}{B}.
  3. Activate Voltaic Construct by paying {2}, untapping The One Ring.
  4. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite draw triggers; Near-infinite black mana; Near-infinite card draw; Near-infinite looting; Near-infinite self-discard triggers

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Freed from the Real or Pemmin's Aura can replace Voltaic Construct as the untap engine, cutting the colorless mana dependency. The loop generates massive card advantage and black mana but no direct win condition — Thassa's Oracle or Aetherflux Reservoir closes the game once the hand and graveyard pile up.
