Volrath, the Shapestealer + Peregrine Drake + Myr Propagator + Lightning Greaves

4-card combo · BGU

Verdict

Yes — this 4-card loop generates infinite Peregrine Drake tokens and infinite mana from lands, given a convoluted but executable priority stack.

Volrath, the Shapestealer copies Myr Propagator to use its tap ability, then shifts to copy Peregrine Drake mid-stack so the resulting token enters as a Drake and untaps five lands. Lightning Greaves on zero-equip cost lets each new token receive shroud immediately and resets Volrath's engine for the next loop. The shell is Sultai, so Diabolic Tutor, Demonic Tutor, and Worldly Tutor all find missing pieces, but assembling all four with counters pre-placed on both Myr Propagator and Peregrine Drake is the real ask.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

Myr Propagator and Peregrine Drake have at least one counter on them. Lightning Greaves attached to Volrath. You control up to five lands that can tap to produce at least {6}.

02

Steps

  1. Activate up to five lands you control by tapping them, adding at least {6}.
  2. Activate Volrath by paying {1}, causing it to become a copy of Myr Propagator until end of turn.
  3. Activate Volrath by paying {3} and tapping it.
  4. Holding priority, activate Volrath by paying {1}, causing it to become a copy of Peregrine Drake until end of turn.
  5. Resolve the Volrath ability from step 3, creating a token copy of it that is a copy of Peregrine Drake.
  6. The Volrath token enters the battlefield, untapping the five lands.
  7. Activate Lightning Greaves' equip ability by paying {0}, attaching it to the Volrath token.
  8. Repeat.

Result

Infinite creature tokens; Infinite ETB; Infinite mana lands you control can produce

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Any infinite-mana outlet closes the game once the loop runs — Torment of Hailfire or Blue Sun's Zenith fits Sultai cleanly. If Myr Propagator is too slow to build counters, Proliferate effects like Inexorable Tide or Yawgmoth, Thran Physician accelerate the prerequisite; without counters on both targets, the loop never starts.
