Rootha, Mercurial Artist + Jeska's Will + Storm-Kiln Artist + Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir

4-card combo · UR

Verdict

Yes — this 4-card loop exiles the entire library and generates infinite storm count in a Izzet shell that already wants Jeska's Will and Storm-Kiln Artist.

Rootha bounces itself to copy Jeska's Will each iteration; Storm-Kiln Artist turns every spell cast into a Treasure that funds the loop, and the opponent's hand size sets a floor of four red mana per Jeska's Will copy. Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir is the critical enabler — holding priority to activate Rootha mid-cast requires that instants and abilities can be played at any time, which Teferi provides unilaterally.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

An opponent has four or more cards in hand. If you control a commander, you can choose both of Jeska's Will's modes if desired.

02

Steps

  1. Cast Jeska's Will by paying {2}{R}.
  2. Storm-Kiln Artist triggers, creating a Treasure token.
  3. Activate a Treasure by tapping and sacrificing it, adding {1}.
  4. Holding priority, activate Rootha by paying {2} and returning it from the battlefield to your hand, copying Jeska's Will.
  5. Storm-Kiln Artist triggers, creating a Treasure token.
  6. Resolve the Jeska's Will copy, adding at least {R}{R}{R}{R}.
  7. Activate a Treasure by tapping and sacrificing it, adding {U}.
  8. Cast Rootha by paying {1}{U}{R}.
  9. Repeat from step 4.

03

Result

Infinite LTB; Infinite ETB; Infinite storm count; Infinite red mana; Infinite magecraft triggers; Exile your library with the ability to play the exiled cards until end of turn

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Without Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, the loop collapses since priority must be held after Storm-Kiln Artist triggers and before Jeska's Will resolves — there is no clean replacement that replicates that window. Exiling the library wins by casting every threat in the deck, but pairing with Grapeshot or Aetherflux Reservoir closes the game without needing to sequence the exile piecemeal.
