Daru Spiritualist + Starlit Sanctum + Lightning Greaves

3-card combo · WB

Verdict

Yes — this 3-piece loop stacks Daru Spiritualist's toughness arbitrarily high before Starlit Sanctum converts it into a life total that ends the game.

Lightning Greaves equips for free, so bouncing it between Daru Spiritualist and any other creature triggers Spiritualist's +0/+2 indefinitely — no mana required once the loop starts. Starlit Sanctum is the payoff, sacrificing the Cleric for white mana to drain life equal to whatever toughness was stacked. This is the backbone of Cleric tribal Commander decks, most naturally under Ravos, Soultender or Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim, where the pieces double as utility outside the combo.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You control another creature.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Lightning Greaves's equip ability by paying {0}, targeting a creature that doesn't currently have Lightning Greaves attached.
  2. If the targeted creature was a Cleric, Daru Spiritualist triggers, causing itself to get +0/+2 until end of turn.
  3. Resolve the Lightning Greaves ability.
  4. Repeat an arbitrarily large number of times.
  5. Activate Starlit Sanctum's second ability by paying {W}, tapping it and sacrificing Daru Spiritualist, causing you to gain life equal to Daru Spiritualist's toughness.

03

Result

Infinite lifegain

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Shaman en-Kor replaces Lightning Greaves as the free redirect trigger if Greaves eats enchantment or equipment removal, though it requires two mana to set up initially. Altar of Dementia substitutes for Starlit Sanctum if winning through lifegain alone is too slow — mill the table instead of gaining infinite life. Either way, the Spiritualist is the linchpin; protect it or the whole line collapses.
