Verdict

Yes — this 5-card loop generates infinite colored mana and empties your library onto the battlefield through Grenzo's bottom-of-library activation.

The engine works by recurring Donnie & April, Adorkable Duo through The Cauldron of Eternity to the bottom of the library, where Grenzo, Dungeon Warden's 2-mana activated ability pulls it back into play. Each iteration returns Dark Ritual to hand, which when recast refunds the loop's mana cost and nets positive with Phyrexian Altar's sacrifice trigger covering the remainder. Grenzo shells in Grixis — typically helmed by Grenzo himself as the commander — already want The Cauldron and Altar as recursive infrastructure, so Donnie & April is the marginal add.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

Grenzo has power 2 or greater.

02

Steps

  1. Cast Dark Ritual by paying {B}, adding {B}{B}{B}.
  2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Donnie & April, adding one mana of any color.
  3. When Donnie & April dies, The Cauldron of Eternity triggers, putting Donnie & April from your graveyard onto the bottom of your library.
  4. Activate Grenzo by paying {2}, putting Donnie & April from the bottom of your library into your graveyard, and then putting it onto the battlefield.
  5. When Donnie & April enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Dark Ritual from your graveyard to your hand.
  6. Repeat.
  7. Once you have infinite mana, you may activate Grenzo's ability any number of times.

03

Result

Infinite LTB; Infinite ETB; Infinite colored mana; Infinite sacrifice triggers; Infinite death triggers; Infinite storm count; Infinite magecraft triggers; Put a selection of creature cards from your library onto the battlefield

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Phyrexian Altar can be replaced by Ashnod's Altar if the loop is restructured around colorless costs, but Dark Ritual's black-mana dependency makes Phyrexian Altar the cleaner fit here. Once mana goes infinite, Grenzo fires at will — Walking Ballista or Zulaport Cutthroat as an incidental creature in the library becomes the kill, no additional dedicated closer needed.
