Displacer Kitten + Frantic Search + Dark Ritual + Vampire Charmseeker

4-card combo · UB

Verdict

Yes — this 4-card loop generates near-infinite black mana and infinite draw in a Dimir shell that already wants Displacer Kitten as an engine piece.

Displacer Kitten blinks Vampire Charmseeker on every noncreature spell cast, and Vampire Charmseeker's enter-the-battlefield trigger returns whichever half of the Dark Ritual and Frantic Search engine just resolved to hand. Frantic Search untaps the lands that paid for it, keeping the loop self-sustaining, while Dark Ritual snowballs black mana each iteration — the table sees an instant-speed draw engine that also functions as a storm count and magecraft trigger generator.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You control up to three lands that can tap to produce at least {U}.

02

Steps

  1. Cast Dark Ritual by paying {B}.
  2. Displacer Kitten triggers, blinking Vampire Charmseeker.
  3. When Vampire Charmseeker enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Frantic Search from your graveyard to your hand.
  4. Resolve Dark Ritual, adding {B}{B}{B}.
  5. Activate up to three lands by tapping them, adding at least {U}.
  6. Cast Frantic Search by paying {2}{B}.
  7. Displacer Kitten triggers, blinking Vampire Charmseeker.
  8. When Vampire Charmseeker enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Dark Ritual from your graveyard to your hand.
  9. Resolve Frantic Search, causing you to loot twice and untap up to three lands.
  10. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite self-discard triggers; Near-infinite ETB; Infinite draw triggers; Infinite looting; Near-infinite storm count; Near-infinite LTB; Near-infinite mana lands you control can produce; Near-infinite magecraft triggers; Near-infinite black mana; Near-infinite untap of lands you control

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Frantic Search is the critical untap piece here; Snap is a narrower substitute that untaps two lands and bounces a creature, but it can't replace the looting. If Vampire Charmseeker is the weak link, Archaeomancer or Mnemonic Wall cover the recursion role at higher mana cost. Pair the near-infinite black mana with Grapeshot, Aetherflux Reservoir, or Thassa's Oracle as the kill — the loop builds the engine, the deck still needs a closer.
