Karn's Bastion proliferates twice per activation, loading charge counters onto Lost Jitte and +1/+1 counters onto Cryptic Trilobite simultaneously. Trilobite converts those counters into four colorless ability-only mana, which covers the 4 cost of Bastion after Lost Jitte spends one charge counter to untap it — the whole loop costs nothing after the first activation. Innkeeper's Talent at level 3 is the engine's ignition requirement: without it the Trilobite never generates enough mana to sustain the loop.
