K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth + Buried Alive + Reanimate + Chainer, Dementia Master + Viscera Seer + Gray Merchant of Asphodel
6-card combo · B
Verdict
Yes — this 6-card line converts K'rrik's life-payment mechanic into an infinite Gray Merchant drain loop that ends the game on the spot.

K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth replaces black mana costs with two life each, letting Buried Alive and Reanimate chain together for life rather than mana. Chainer, Dementia Master does the heavy lifting: nine life per activation returns Viscera Seer and Gray Merchant of Asphodel as Nightmares, and each Gray Merchant trigger drains opponents and refunds enough life to keep Chainer firing — provided devotion to black hits ten or at least two opponents are at the table absorbing the drain. The table sees a K'rrik activation followed by three back-to-back reanimation activations before the drain loop starts.
Recipe
How it works
01
Prerequisites
Your life total is at least 23. Your devotion to black is at least ten or you have at least two opponents.
02
Steps
- Cast Buried Alive by paying
and two life, searching for Chainer, Viscera Seer, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel.
- Cast Reanimate by paying 2 life.
- returning Chainer onto the battlefield and causing you to lose five life.
- Activate Chainer by paying nine life, returning Viscera Seer from your graveyard to the battlefield as a Nightmare in addition to its other creature types.
- Activate Chainer by paying nine life, returning Gray Merchant of Asphodel from your graveyard to the battlefield as a Nightmare in addition to its other creature types.
- Gray Merchant of Asphodel enters the battlefield, causing each opponent to lose life equal to your devotion to black and causing you to gain life equal to the amount of life lost this way.
- Activate Viscera Seer by sacrificing Gray Merchant of Asphodel, scrying 1.
- Repeat from step 5.

Variations
Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines
Phyrexian Reclamation can stand in for Chainer if the nine-life activations are too steep after a rough life-payment start, though it introduces sorcery-speed recursion. Mikaeus, the Unhallowed replaces Viscera Seer as the sacrifice outlet if scry is irrelevant — undying re-triggers Gray Merchant without Chainer at all, cutting the combo to fewer pieces. Any Buried Alive target package can swap in Mikaeus and Gary as the core two, using Viscera Seer only if a free sacrifice outlet is unavailable.
