Tree of Perdition sets a target opponent's life total to 13 by swapping with its own toughness; Blasphemous Act then deals exactly 13 damage to all creatures, and Truefire Captain redirects that 13 to the same opponent, killing them at their new total. The combo lives in Mardu shells that already want Blasphemous Act as a board wipe — Kaalia of the Vast and Licia, Sanguine Tribune are natural homes for the package.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

Tree of Perdition does not have summoning sickness. You have enough mana available to cast Blasphemous Act.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Tree of Perdition, exchanging target opponent's life total with Tree of Perdition's toughness.
  2. Cast Blasphemous Act, dealing thirteen damage to all creatures.
  3. Truefire Captain triggers, dealing thirteen damage to target opponent.

03

Result

Target opponent loses the game

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Boros Reckoner fills the Truefire Captain role if one piece needs to be swapped — both trigger on receiving damage and redirect to any target. The line only removes one opponent, so pair it with effects that copy or reuse Blasphemous Act, or protect Tree of Perdition through haste enablers like Swiftfoot Boots to remove the summoning-sickness prerequisite entirely.
