Zombie Infestation converts any two cards in hand into a 2/2 Zombie token — no mana required after the initial two to cast it, which makes it one of the most efficient discard outlets in black. The cost is real: you're burning cards to make vanilla bodies, so it earns its slot only when you want cards in the graveyard as badly as you want creatures on board, which is exactly the deal Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis is always making.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis
Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis casts itself by convokeing and delving, which means it needs creatures in play and cards in the graveyard simultaneously — Zombie Infestation delivers both in a single activation, making it one of the cleanest setup pieces in the deck.

Damia, Sage of Stone
Damia, Sage of Stone refills your hand to seven at the start of each of your turns, which turns Zombie Infestation from a card-disadvantage engine into a free Zombie factory — you churn excess cards into tokens without ever actually running out of gas.

In Commander, Zombie Infestation occupies a narrow but reliable niche: discard-matters builds, reanimator shells, and any deck that wants a mana-free way to stock the graveyard while accruing a board presence. In Legacy and Vintage, it sees essentially no play — the formats move too fast for a two-mana enchantment that makes 2/2s at the cost of two cards each, and dedicated combo decks have faster discard outlets. Modern is the same story: competitive graveyard decks there have access to efficient one-mana alternatives that don't bleed card equity. Zombie Infestation is purely a Commander card at this point, and even there it earns its slot only in decks that specifically reward the graveyard half of the transaction.

$0.29 bulk tier
At $0.29, Zombie Infestation is deep bulk — easy to pick up in any common/uncommon bin or throw into a cart as a filler. It won't appreciate meaningfully from here given its narrow application and multiple printings, but at this price you're not buying it for value anyway.
