Wayfaring Temple card art
Wayfaring Temple scales to whatever creature count you've already built — in a wide-board deck it's threatening a one-card populate trigger every combat, and Ghired, Conclave Exile turns that into an exponential token engine. The cost is real: a three-mana 0/0 that dies to any board wipe before you've built a board is a liability, and Mayael's Aria comparisons aside, this card does nothing alone.

Wayfaring Temple is a Commander card — it needs a board state to do anything, and Commander is the format that reliably provides one. In a 100-card singleton format full of token generators and populate payoffs, it's a reasonable threat in the right shell. In Modern or Legacy, a three-mana 0/0 that requires you to already be winning to be good doesn't survive the efficiency bar those formats impose — it's technically legal but not competitive. Pioneer is the same story. Oathbreaker could support it in a tokens-focused pairing, but Commander remains the obvious home.

At $0.15, Wayfaring Temple is bulk — pure throw-it-in-a-deck territory with no barrier to entry. Bulk enchantments with narrow homes rarely appreciate, so don't expect it to move.
