Warden of the Eye card art
Warden of the Eye enters and returns any noncreature, nonland spell from your graveyard to hand — a free spell each time it blinks. The catch is a five-mana body with no inherent way to recur itself, so it lives or dies by your flicker engine; pair it with Ghostly Flicker and a mana generator and the engine runs itself.

Format Analysis

Warden of the Eye is a Commander card through and through — the format's longer games and flicker-happy commanders give it the repetition it needs to justify five mana. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's outclassed: five mana for a 3/3 that retrieves one spell once is nowhere near the power threshold those formats demand, and no competitive shell wants it. Commander is where the text becomes a value engine rather than a one-shot; blink commanders like Roon of the Hidden Realm, Brago, King Eternal, or Hylda of the Icy Crown make Warden of the Eye a recursive tutor stapled to a blocker.

Price Context

Current price

$0.05 bulk tier

At $0.05, Warden of the Eye is pure bulk — buy a playset without thinking about it. Bulk status is stable here; it sees narrow Commander play and has no competitive demand elsewhere to push the price upward.
