Verdant Confluence card art
Verdant Confluence puts three modes on the stack at once — fetch a land, return a permanent, or put counters on a creature — and the right deck uses all three in the same cast. Six mana is real, but Riku of Many Paths copying it for two mana turns that cost into an absurd bargain; outside of copy-spell payoffs like Feather, the Redeemed, you're paying full price for flexibility that slower, value-oriented green decks will happily take.

Riku of Many Paths copies spells when you pay two additional mana, so a single Verdant Confluence becomes six modes spread across two resolutions — fetch two lands, rebuy two permanents, or load up a creature with six counters, all from one card.

Verdant Confluence is a Commander card through and through — the three-mode flexibility that looks expensive in a 20-life format is exactly what 40-life battlecruiser games reward, and the modal design means it's never a dead draw. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but irrelevant: six mana buys you considerably more broken things, and no competitive shell is looking for Swiss-army-knife green value at that cost. Oathbreaker can support it in the same midrange-value shells that Commander does, though the tighter 60-card construction makes the six-mana ask steeper.

Price Context

Current price

$0.42 bulk tier

At $0.42, Verdant Confluence sits firmly in bulk territory, which is underselling a card that does real work in any green value deck. Bulk prices are stable for broadly playable Commander cards like this one — no reason to expect movement in either direction.
