Valor in Akros card art
Valor in Akros turns every creature you cast into a global pump, and in token decks that trigger repeatedly in a single turn, the counters stack fast enough to end games. Five mana is the real ask — it competes with your five-drop slot, so it earns its place only if you're casting three or more creatures the same turn you drop it, which Emmara, Soul of the Accord decks routinely do.

Emmara, Soul of the Accord taps to make tokens, and every spell or effect that taps her triggers Valor in Akros — convoke spells in particular let Emmara tap while also casting creatures, turning a single turn into a cascade of +1/+1 counters across the board.

Valor in Akros is a Commander card through and through — the payoff scales with the number of creatures you cast per turn, and nowhere does that number get higher than a multiplayer token strategy with a full hand and a low curve. In Modern and Pioneer it's too slow and too narrow; creature-based aggro there wants lords that apply pressure immediately, not an enchantment that requires you to keep casting into open mana. Legacy is technically legal but the card has no business there. Commander is the only format where Valor in Akros is genuinely worth a deck slot, and even there it belongs only in dedicated go-wide builds that routinely cast three or more creatures in a turn.

Price Context

Current price

$0.08 bulk tier

At $0.08, Valor in Akros is pure bulk — you're not paying for scarcity, you're paying for cardboard. That price is stable because demand is niche and supply is deep; don't expect movement in either direction.
