Ugin's Binding card art
Ugin's Binding locks down every nonland permanent your opponents control — a full-table stasis effect stapled to a single cast — but getting there requires casting five or more Eldrazi spells in a single turn. That's a non-starter in most decks and an automatic include in Ulalek, Fused Atrocity, where chaining Eldrazi triggers is the whole game plan.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Ulalek, Fused Atrocity

Ulalek, Fused Atrocity

56.6% of decks · synergy 0.53

Ulalek, Fused Atrocity copies every Eldrazi spell cast after the first each turn, meaning a single Eldrazi chain can hit five triggers without extra effort — Ugin's Binding is often the payoff you're building toward, not a stretch goal.

02
Kruphix, God of Horizons

Kruphix, God of Horizons

20.2% of decks · synergy 0.19

Kruphix, God of Horizons banks unspent mana across turns, which is exactly the resource engine you need to stockpile enough mana to cast five Eldrazi in one go and trigger Ugin's Binding.

03
Memnarch

Memnarch

18.4% of decks · synergy 0.17

Memnarch runs mountains of colorless mana to fuel its theft ability, and that same mana base supports the Eldrazi count required to flip Ugin's Binding into a board-locking finisher.

04
Jhoira of the Ghitu

Jhoira of the Ghitu

11.1% of decks · synergy 0.11

Jhoira of the Ghitu suspends multiple Eldrazi to land simultaneously, and a synchronized wave of five or more coming off suspend in one turn is one of the cleaner paths to unlocking Ugin's Binding's condition.

05
Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty

Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty

9.6% of decks · synergy 0.09

Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty cascades off every spell with mana value six or greater, and Eldrazi overwhelmingly clear that threshold — each cascade adds another Eldrazi to the chain, pushing you toward the five-spell threshold Ugin's Binding demands.

Ugin's Binding is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it's functionally a Commander card — the five-Eldrazi requirement is nearly impossible to satisfy in 60-card formats where game states rarely last long enough to assemble that chain. In Commander, the four-player pod and longer game give Eldrazi decks the runway to string together enough casts, and a full-table permanent lockdown is a uniquely powerful effect at that table size. Outside of Commander, the ceiling is too low and the condition too steep to compete with existing control tools.

Price Context

Current price

$0.60 bulk tier

At $0.60, Ugin's Binding sits firmly in bulk territory — it's cheap because its condition prices it out of most decks. In Ulalek, Fused Atrocity builds where it's a near-auto-include, that price makes it an easy pickup with no financial hesitation.
