Treasury Thrull card art
Treasury Thrull puts a creature, artifact, or enchantment back from your graveyard into your hand every time it attacks — that's an engine stapled to a 4/4 extort body, and it compounds fast. The cost is six mana and the fragility of a creature that needs to survive to combat, but in any shell running Coretapper or other sacrifice fodder, the recursion loop pays for itself within two attacks.

Treasury Thrull is a Commander card through and through — the attack-trigger recursion rewards long games, multiplayer politics, and the kind of slow value accumulation that 1v1 formats punish brutally. In Legacy, Modern, or Pioneer it's simply too slow at six mana with no immediate board impact, and those formats have no interest in a repeatable graveyard engine that takes multiple turns to generate advantage. Commander is where Treasury Thrull lives: Orzhov shells that want to recur key artifacts, enchantments, or creatures will find real mileage here, especially alongside extort synergies that convert the recursion loop into incremental life totals across the table.
