Urabrask the Hidden card art
Urabrask the Hidden hits the table and immediately taxes every opponent's creature plan — their stuff enters tapped, yours enters with haste. That one-two effect is why it slots naturally into Breath of Fury combo lines and why Kratos, God of War runs it in roughly 70% of builds.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Kratos, God of War

Kratos, God of War

69.1% of decks · synergy 0.64

Kratos, God of War is an attack-trigger engine, and Urabrask the Hidden solves the summoning-sickness problem instantly — every new creature you deploy swings the same turn, keeping the chain alive.

02
Nikya of the Old Ways

Nikya of the Old Ways

61.5% of decks · synergy 0.56

Nikya of the Old Ways locks out noncreature spells, so every piece of the deck has to pull double duty; Urabrask the Hidden contributes a static lock on opponents' boards while giving Nikya's creature-heavy lineup immediate haste.

03
Ognis, the Dragon's Lash

Ognis, the Dragon's Lash

48.2% of decks · synergy 0.46

Ognis, the Dragon's Lash generates Treasure only when hasted creatures deal combat damage, making Urabrask the Hidden a passive engine that turns every new attacker into immediate mana.

04
Ruric Thar, the Unbowed

Ruric Thar, the Unbowed

49.7% of decks · synergy 0.44

Ruric Thar, the Unbowed is already punishing opponents for casting spells; Urabrask the Hidden piles on by stalling their creature development, giving the deck more time to close through combat.

05
Etali, Primal Storm

Etali, Primal Storm

46.2% of decks · synergy 0.41

Etali, Primal Storm does nothing until it attacks, so haste is non-negotiable — Urabrask the Hidden is one of the cleanest ways to guarantee Etali swings the turn it lands.

Format Analysis

Commander is where Urabrask the Hidden does its best work: a five-mana 4/4 is fine in a 40-life format, and the symmetrical haste plus opponent-tapping effect punishes the creature-heavy boards that define multiplayer tables. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but far too slow and too fragile — five mana for a creature with no protection is not where those formats want to be. Modern is the same story; the effect isn't powerful enough to overcome the tempo cost at five mana when the format kills you on turn four. Stick to Commander and Oathbreaker, where the static abilities compound over multiple turns and the life cushion lets you get value before removal arrives.

Pricing data for Urabrask the Hidden isn't available in the current feed, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the live number before buying. Given its consistent ~70% inclusion rate in Kratos, God of War builds and strong showings across several other high-volume commanders, demand is real — don't expect bargain-bin pricing on non-promo copies.
