Trail of Evidence card art
Trail of Evidence turns every instant and sorcery into a Clue token, generating card advantage passively across an entire game without asking anything extra from your spell slots. Three mana at sorcery speed is the real cost — it does nothing the turn it enters, so it needs a deck that casts enough spells to justify the investment, and Galazeth Prismari decks clear that bar easily.

Galazeth Prismari

Galazeth Prismari

60.9% of decks · synergy 0.60

Galazeth Prismari converts artifacts into mana, so every Clue Trail of Evidence produces doubles as a ritual — cast a spell, make a Clue, tap the Clue to cast the next spell, repeat. That feedback loop is why the card shows up in over 60% of Galazeth lists.

Lonis, Cryptozoologist

Lonis, Cryptozoologist

14.3% of decks · synergy 0.14

Lonis, Cryptozoologist triggers off every artifact entering the battlefield, so each Clue Trail of Evidence makes is also a free Lonis activation — instant or sorcery becomes both card selection and a potential tutor chain.

Trail of Evidence is a Commander card — the effect is too slow and incremental to matter in Legacy, Modern, or Pioneer, where games end before you cash in more than one or two Clues. In Commander, the math flips: a four-player game stretches long enough that Trail of Evidence can generate six or eight Clues over a single circuit of the table, turning a three-mana enchantment into a repeatable draw engine. It's most at home in spellslinger decks that were already casting instants and sorceries — the Clues are pure upside rather than a reason to change how you play. Pioneer and Legacy are legal on paper but Trail of Evidence has no competitive footprint in either.

Price Context

Current price

$0.24 bulk tier

At $0.24, Trail of Evidence is bulk — easy to pick up without a second thought. Bulk enchantments with Commander-specific demand tend to sit flat rather than spike, so there's no urgency to buy in quantity, but at this price there's no reason to hesitate on a single copy either.
