Tethered Griffin is a 3/4 flier for two mana — that body is the entire appeal. The catch is that it sacrifices itself at your upkeep unless you control an enchantment, so without Assault Suit or a reliable enchantment shell to lean on, it collapses the moment your auras get answered.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

In Commander, Tethered Griffin finds its home exclusively in enchantress builds that always have an enchantment in play — the self-sacrifice clause is trivially avoided, and a 3/4 flier for two mana punches well above its cost. Legacy and Vintage have access to it but will never run it; the enchantment dependency is a liability in those formats where board states are volatile and two-mana creatures compete with far more resilient options. Tethered Griffin is essentially a Commander card wearing eternal-format legality as a costume.

Price Context
Current price
$1.17 cheap tier
At $1.17, Tethered Griffin sits in the bulk-rare tier — cheap enough to slot in without any budget consideration. It's a narrow card with a narrow home, so don't expect the price to move meaningfully in either direction.
