Jon Irenicus, Shattered One
Legendary Creature — Elf Wizard
At the beginning of your end step, target opponent gains control of up to one target creature you control. Put two +1/+1 counters on it and tap it. It's goaded for the rest of the game and it gains "This creature can't be sacrificed." (It attacks each combat if able and attacks a player other than you if able.)
Whenever a creature you own but don't control attacks, you draw a card.

Jon Irenicus, Shattered One turns a political liability into a weapon — donate a creature loaded with oil counters from Archfiend of the Dross or a curse-bearing body from Edea, Possessed Sorceress, and your opponent inherits the problem while you collect cards and swing unblockably. The cost is real: giving opponents creatures means giving them resources, so the deck collapses without payoffs that punish the gift immediately.

Edea, Possessed Sorceress
Edea, Possessed Sorceress generates cursed tokens purpose-built for donation — Jon Irenicus, Shattered One ships them across the table, turning Edea's curse engine into a relentless card-draw and damage loop that neither commander can run as efficiently alone.

Jon Irenicus, Shattered One is a Commander card in the fullest sense — the politics, the multiplayer donation loops, and the incremental card advantage only matter when there are three opponents to manipulate and a long enough game to execute. In Legacy and Vintage, where the card is technically legal, a four-mana 3/3 with no immediate board impact doesn't survive contact with those formats' threat density. Commander is the correct and essentially only home, and even there Jon Irenicus rewards a focused build over a casual slot in the 99.

Current price
$0.31 bulk tier
At $0.31, Jon Irenicus, Shattered One sits firmly in bulk territory — easy to acquire, no financial risk. Bulk mythics with a dedicated commander following tend to hold a floor near this price rather than dropping further, so there's no urgency to buy in bulk, but there's no reason to hesitate on a single copy either.
