Temporal Adept puts a permanent bounce on the board that opponents have to answer immediately — the threat of returning The One Ring, a problematic commander, or any resolved threat on every upkeep is enough to warp how the table plays. The cost is real: three blue mana per activation is brutal in multi-color decks, and the Adept itself is a 1/1 that dies to everything.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Temporal Adept is a Commander card through and through — the slow, repeatable pressure it applies is most valuable in a format where games go long and individual permanents carry outsized weight. In Legacy and Vintage it's simply too slow and too mana-intensive to compete with the format's velocity. Oathbreaker is the one other format where it can find a home, specifically in blue control shells that want a permanent bounce engine rather than a one-shot spell.

Current price
$0.39 bulk tier
At $0.39, Temporal Adept sits firmly in bulk territory, and that price reflects honest supply — it's never been a chase card and isn't trending toward one. Bulk status here is fine: you're buying the effect, not the cardboard, and the effect is worth the thirty-nine cents.
