Teferi's Veil

Enchantment

Whenever a creature you control attacks, it phases out at end of combat. (While it's phased out, it's treated as though it doesn't exist. It phases in before you untap during your next untap step.)

Teferi's Veil card art
Teferi's Veil phases out your attacking creatures at end of combat, dodging removal, sacrifice effects, and end-step exile clauses for two mana. In the right shell — most famously Sedris, the Traitor King — that phase-out clause converts a one-shot Unearth trigger into a creature that sticks around indefinitely.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Sedris, the Traitor King

Sedris, the Traitor King

55.0% of decks · synergy 0.55

Sedris, the Traitor King's Unearth exiles the creature at end of turn, but a creature that phases out never reaches that exile trigger — Teferi's Veil turns every Unearthed threat into a permanent boardstate piece that attacks every turn for free.

02
Araumi of the Dead Tide

Araumi of the Dead Tide

32.0% of decks · synergy 0.31

Araumi of the Dead Tide generates Encore tokens that exile at end of turn, and Teferi's Veil intercepts that exile by phasing the tokens out before the delayed trigger resolves, letting you attack with the same tripled threats turn after turn.

03
Gor Muldrak, Amphinologist

Gor Muldrak, Amphinologist

21.4% of decks · synergy 0.21

Gor Muldrak, Amphinologist forces your opponents to create Salamander Warrior tokens and then attacks into them on your turn — Teferi's Veil phases your creatures out after combat so they're never available as blocks when your opponents untap, locking down the board asymmetrically.

Commander is where Teferi's Veil lives; the phase-out trick is most valuable in graveyard-based reanimator shells that rely on delayed exile triggers, and the multiplayer table means you're swinging every turn and getting full value from the protection. Legacy and Vintage legality is technically true but irrelevant — the effect is too narrow and too slow for those formats' kill speeds. Oathbreaker is the one alternative where it occasionally surfaces, again in reanimator or combat-heavy builds that want to protect a recurring threat.

Price Context

Current price

$1.02 cheap tier

At $1.02, Teferi's Veil sits firmly in the bulk-rare tier — cheap enough to pick up without a second thought for any Sedris or Araumi build that wants it. It's a low-reprint card with a niche audience, so the price is stable rather than climbing; don't expect it to spike, but also don't expect it to get cheaper.
