Sylvan Anthem pumps every green creature you control and replaces itself every time a green creature enters — that's a lord effect stapled to a card-draw engine on a two-mana enchantment. Ruxa, Patient Professor and Arwen Undómiel both run it as a core piece, and the reason is obvious: the scry-and-draw trigger scales with board size in a way that most anthems simply don't.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Ruxa, Patient Professor
Ruxa, Patient Professor runs Sylvan Anthem in 77% of decks because the entire strategy is built around base-power creatures with no abilities — exactly the creatures that need a pump the most — and every new creature entering triggers the draw engine to keep the hand full.

Shroofus Sproutsire
Shroofus Sproutsire pairs with Sylvan Anthem because generating token creatures repeatedly turns the enchantment into a relentless scry engine, letting the deck filter toward its best payoffs while the board grows wider.

Galadriel of Lothlórien
Galadriel of Lothlórien slots Sylvan Anthem in over half of builds because the deck floods the board with Elves and tokens, converting every entry trigger into card selection that keeps the engine running deep into the game.

Elrond, Master of Healing
Elrond, Master of Healing leans on Sylvan Anthem to smooth draws in a deck that wants to assemble specific pieces, and the +1/+1 bonus keeps smaller creatures relevant as the board develops.

Ayula, Queen Among Bears
Ayula, Queen Among Bears wants Sylvan Anthem because each Bear entering immediately draws a card via the scry trigger, feeding the engine that lets Ayula keep fighting her creatures into opposing boards.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is unambiguously where Sylvan Anthem belongs — the scry-and-draw trigger is irrelevant in a vacuum but explosive in creature-dense green strategies that go wide across a 100-card game. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but practically invisible; tribal or stompy shells there have faster, more powerful options and rarely need a two-mana enchantment that doesn't win the game on its own. Modern is the one competitive 60-card format where a green creature deck could theoretically use it, but the format's pace punishes slow enchantments that don't produce immediate board impact. Sylvan Anthem is a Commander card through and through.

$1.23 cheap tier
At $1.23, Sylvan Anthem sits in the easy-include tier — cheap enough that cutting it for budget reasons is never justified in any green creature deck that qualifies. It sees enough play across multiple archetypes to stay right around this price floor, and there's no meaningful reprint pressure that would push it lower.
