Scurry Oak generates a 1/1 Squirrel token every time it gets a +1/+1 counter — pair it with Ivy Lane Denizen and the loop is infinite, costing you nothing beyond having both cards on the battlefield. Three mana for a creature that doubles as a combo piece and a counter-synergy engine makes it an easy include in any deck that cares about Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest or token multiplication.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest
Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest puts a +1/+1 counter on every creature you control whenever a permanent sacrificed — each Squirrel token Scurry Oak produces is another sacrifice trigger waiting to happen, and the loop accelerates itself into a board-wide stat explosion.

Fangorn, Tree Shepherd
Fangorn, Tree Shepherd cares about Treefolk and creatures gaining counters, making Scurry Oak a natural fit that supplies both a steady counter trigger and a stream of tokens to fuel additional synergies.

Chatterfang, Squirrel General
Chatterfang, Squirrel General copies every Squirrel token you make, so each trigger from Scurry Oak produces two Squirrels instead of one — the infinite Ivy Lane Denizen loop becomes doubly lethal under Chatterfang.

Treebeard, Gracious Host
Treebeard, Gracious Host distributes +1/+1 counters across your Hobbits and other creatures, giving Scurry Oak repeated triggers without needing a dedicated combo piece.

Felothar, Dawn of the Abzan
Felothar, Dawn of the Abzan rewards going wide with tokens and counters across multiple creature types, and Scurry Oak supplies both at once while sitting at an efficient three mana.

Commander is the clear home for Scurry Oak — the Ivy Lane Denizen combo is well-documented, the card is legal, and counter-focused or token-focused decks give it a natural landing spot at every power level. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but competes in formats where a three-mana 1/1 with a conditional loop is far too slow to matter. Modern has enough counter synergies to make Scurry Oak theoretically interesting in a dedicated build, though it hasn't carved out a competitive slot. Oathbreaker gives it the same Commander-style environment at a compressed game length, which actually suits the combo line well if you can protect both pieces.

Pricing data for Scurry Oak isn't available at the moment, so check Scryfall or your preferred retailer for a current number. Historically it's sat in the bulk-to-low-cost range given its narrow combo focus, but demand from Chatterfang and counter-matters decks keeps it from disappearing entirely.
