Sunken Hope returns each player's creatures to hand at the start of every upkeep — a symmetrical reset engine that punishes opponents leaning on expensive, enter-the-battlefield-taxed permanents while rewarding decks built to abuse the bounce. Pair it with Wormfang Manta or any creature that wants repeated ETB triggers and the "symmetrical" clause stops being symmetrical fast.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Sunken Hope sees virtually no play in Legacy, Modern, or Vintage — the formats are too fast for a five-mana enchantment with no immediate impact to matter. Commander is its natural home: the multiplayer environment means the cumulative pressure scales across three opponents, and slower game paces let you actually untap with it. In Oathbreaker it's a fringe option in the same ETB-abuse shells that want it in Commander, though the 20-life clock makes it harder to justify five mana for a passive effect. Stick to Commander if you're running Sunken Hope.

Price Context
Current price
$0.26 bulk tier
At $0.26, Sunken Hope is deep bulk — you're not buying this for speculation, you're picking it out of a dollar box. Niche enchantments at this price tend to stay flat unless a new commander breaks them wide open, so grab it if you need it and don't think twice about the cost.
