Sunbeam Spellbomb card art
Sunbeam Spellbomb gains you 5 life for one white mana, then replaces itself for another white mana — the floor is a cantrip, and the ceiling is a lifegain trigger that fuels commanders like Licia, Sanguine Tribune on turn three. Outside of dedicated lifegain decks, it does less work than Ash Zealot does damage, and the competition for one-drop slots is ruthless.

Licia, Sanguine Tribune

Licia, Sanguine Tribune

15.7% of decks · synergy 0.16

Sunbeam Spellbomb is a reliable turn-one setup piece for Licia, Sanguine Tribune — gain 5 life before your third turn and Licia costs three mana less, threatening a turn-three commander that closes games.

02
Will, Scion of Peace

Will, Scion of Peace

Sunbeam Spellbomb is a Commander card — full stop. In Commander, the combination of lifegain payoffs, recursive loops, and artifact synergies gives it a real home that no other format reliably provides. In Pauper it's legal but competes with more efficient life-gain and card-draw options at common, so it rarely makes the cut. Legacy and Vintage have access to it but would never touch it — the effect is far too marginal at those power levels. Stick to Commander, and specifically to commanders that care about hitting a life threshold or counting lifegain events.

Price Context

Current price

$0.19 bulk tier

At $0.19, Sunbeam Spellbomb is deep bulk — you're not paying for power, you're paying for exactly one copy of a niche role-player. The price is stable and likely stays there; it only moves in the one deck that genuinely wants it.
