Sunastian Falconer taps for two mana of any color — on a 6/4 body for five mana — making it one of the most efficient mana engines available to Gruul creature builds. Marvin, Murderous Mimic can copy Falconer to double that output, and the combo ceiling from there gets out of hand fast.

Sunastian Falconer is a Commander card through and through — the tap-for-mana ability rewards the long games and big-spell density that the format demands, and a 6/4 that doubles as a mana rock is exactly the kind of redundancy that green-red decks want in the 99 or in the command zone. In Legacy and Vintage, where the format moves faster than a five-mana creature can stabilize and dedicated mana acceleration is far cheaper, Sunastian Falconer doesn't have a realistic home. Oathbreaker is legal but the format's lower power ceiling makes a five-mana planeswalker support piece a tough sell.
