Farmstead Gleaner card art
Farmstead Gleaner is an indestructible artifact creature that accumulates +1/+1 counters at end of turn — a persistent, growing body that never dies to spot removal or board wipes. The cost is pure opportunity cost: it does nothing the turn it enters and requires a dedicated counters or artifact shell to pay off, but commanders like Trazyn the Infinite and Marvin, Murderous Mimic make that payoff real.

Trazyn the Infinite can use Farmstead Gleaner as a permanent counter-battery — Trazyn copies the counters Gleaner accumulates, turning a slow incremental engine into an immediate threat the moment Trazyn enters or attacks.

Farmstead Gleaner is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but its home is Commander by a wide margin. The 100-card singleton format gives it the long game it needs: multiple trips around the table let the counter accumulation actually reach threatening numbers, and artifact-tribal or Proliferate commanders give it real structural support. In Legacy and Vintage, it simply isn't doing anything competitive decks want — indestructibility doesn't compensate for spending a turn doing nothing in formats that end on turn two or three. Modern theoretically has the durability to run it, but there's no shell where Farmstead Gleaner is the right threat at the right cost.

Price Context

Current price

$0.17 bulk tier

At $0.17, Farmstead Gleaner is deep bulk — easy to pick up without budget consideration. Bulk rares with narrow combo applications rarely climb unless a new commander breaks them wide open, so grab copies for the decks that want it now and don't expect the price to move.
