Strife Scholar // Awaken the Ages puts a looting engine on a two-mana body and backs it with a land-animating back half that can close games — the cost is that both halves demand specific support to do anything broken. Displacer Kitten is the clearest enabler, bouncing the Scholar repeatedly to stack loot triggers, which makes this a snap-include in blink and spellslinger shells but a blank in anything else.

In Commander, Strife Scholar // Awaken the Ages earns its slot in spellslinger and blink shells where the front half generates consistent card selection and the back half can swing for lethal with enough mana sunk in. Outside of those archetypes it's too conditional to compete with dedicated draw engines. In competitive 60-card formats — Modern, Pioneer, Legacy — the Scholar front half is underpowered against dedicated two-mana looters, and Awaken the Ages costs too much to realistically threaten in those environments. Pauper is the one competitive format where the power floor on two-mana card selection can matter, and the Scholar is worth a look in tempo or control shells that want a resilient late-game mana sink.
