Signpost Scarecrow

Signpost Scarecrow is a Commander card first and almost exclusively — the combination of an artifact body, color fixing, and a repeatable tap ability only pays off in a format where you have time to untap it repeatedly and commanders that reward the artifact type. In Pauper it's technically playable, but there's no shortage of two-mana fixers at common that don't enter tapped, so it rarely makes the cut. Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer have zero interest: the enters-tapped clause is disqualifying in any format where tempo is finite and artifact synergies run cheaper and faster. Commander is where Signpost Scarecrow belongs, specifically in decks that exploit tap abilities or count artifacts — everywhere else it's just a slow rock.
