Stream of Acid destroys a land and hits up to three other permanents for -1/-1 each — meaningful board disruption stapled onto targeted land removal. Five mana for a sorcery that splits its damage across multiple targets is too slow for any format where better options exist, and better options almost always exist.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

| pioneer | not legal |

| vintage | legal |

In Commander, Stream of Acid occupies an awkward niche: land destruction is politically toxic at most tables, and when you do want it, Strip Mine effects or Acidic Slime do the job more efficiently. The -1/-1 rider is cute against token boards but rarely game-changing at five mana. In Legacy and Vintage, the card is legal but never played — the format has Wasteland, Strip Mine, and Vindicate, none of which cost five mana. Stream of Acid is essentially a Commander-only curiosity, and even there it earns a slot only in dedicated land-destruction or -1/-1 counter strategies.

Price Context
Current price
$1.38 cheap tier
At $1.38, Stream of Acid sits in the cheap tier — low enough that the price isn't a barrier, but the card's narrow application means casual demand is thin and the price reflects that. Don't expect it to move in either direction.
