Static Net locks down a permanent every time an enchantment enters under your control — and takes it hostage until the Net leaves. Three mana to cast is the only real cost, and in any enchantment-heavy shell that cost evaporates fast.

Static Net is a Commander card first and foremost — enchantress builds and stax shells can trigger it repeatedly, turning every new enchantment into a free Arrest. In Legacy and Vintage the competition is steep: Stasis, Suppression Field, and Narset, Parter of Veils do more for less, so Static Net doesn't register. Modern and Pioneer offer more room, but dedicated enchantment decks there trend toward damage plans rather than prison, and the Net's tap-lock is too slow against combo-heavy fields. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander 60-card format where it earns a genuine look, specifically in white enchantment signatures.
