Seraphic Steed card art
Seraphic Steed lands as a lifelink, flying Nightmare that scales its power and toughness to your life total — a threat that grows alongside the same resource you're already pumping in Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn builds. The cost is five mana for a creature with no immediate board impact, but Breath of Fury lines and life-doubling loops make that window short.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn

Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn

26.2% of decks · synergy 0.23

Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn distributes +1/+1 counters whenever you gain life at end of turn, and Seraphic Steed's lifelink means every attack triggers that engine while the Steed itself grows into a progressively larger flying threat — the synergy is self-reinforcing.

02
Emiel the Blessed

Emiel the Blessed

19.6% of decks · synergy 0.17

Emiel the Blessed can blink Seraphic Steed at instant speed, and since the Steed's power and toughness are set by your current life total each time it enters, repeated flickers with a high life total translate directly into a bigger clock on the board.

Seraphic Steed is legal across every major constructed format but sees essentially no play outside Commander — a five-mana 1/1 that grows with your life total is far too slow for Legacy, Modern, or Pioneer, where life totals rarely climb and games end before the scaling matters. In Commander, it slots cleanly into any white lifegain deck that wants a finisher doubling as a lifelink engine, and the Breath of Fury combo — attaching it to the Steed after a big combat — can close games out of nowhere. Oathbreaker is theoretically viable in the same shell, but the compressed format makes the five-mana ask harder to justify without dedicated life-doubling support.

Price Context

Current price

$0.40 bulk tier

At $0.40, Seraphic Steed sits firmly in bulk territory, which makes it an easy inclusion to test without financial commitment. Bulk rares with niche combo applications rarely climb unless they break into a top-tier deck, so expect this price to stay flat.
