Seal of Primordium card art
Seal of Primordium enters the battlefield and sits there, threatening an artifact or enchantment at the moment you choose — giving you both timing control and a permanent-type body for graveyard synergies. Two mana to cast, one mana to sacrifice, and full flexibility on the target makes it one of the cleanest pieces of enchantment-based removal available, especially in Muldrotha, the Gravetide decks where it recurs every turn.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Muldrotha, the Gravetide

Muldrotha, the Gravetide

49.2% of decks · synergy 0.45

Muldrotha, the Gravetide can replay Seal of Primordium from the graveyard each turn cycle, turning a one-shot removal spell into a repeating threat that forces opponents to play around it indefinitely.

02
Narci, Fable Singer

Narci, Fable Singer

45.8% of decks · synergy 0.43

Narci, Fable Singer triggers off enchantments entering and leaving the battlefield, so Seal of Primordium doubles as both a constellation trigger on arrival and a sacrifice outlet that fuels the engine again when you crack it.

03
Tatsunari, Toad Rider

Tatsunari, Toad Rider

42.6% of decks · synergy 0.38

Tatsunari, Toad Rider cares about casting enchantments, and Seal of Primordium is a cheap, functional enchantment that earns its slot on that axis while also handling problem artifacts or enchantments opponents deploy.

04
Sythis, Harvest's Hand

Sythis, Harvest's Hand

40.2% of decks · synergy 0.37

Sythis, Harvest's Hand draws a card whenever you cast an enchantment, so Seal of Primordium replaces itself on cast and still carries real removal upside when the situation demands it.

05
Six

Six

28.1% of decks · synergy 0.27

Six rewards enchantments that cycle through the battlefield, and Seal of Primordium's built-in sacrifice clause means it actively wants to leave play — fitting the self-mill and graveyard loops Six decks are built around.

Seal of Primordium is a Pauper staple, where enchantment removal is scarce and a two-mana permanent that doubles as an answer to Bogles auras or artifacts earns real respect. In Commander, it competes with Naturalize effects but wins on the enchantment subtype alone — Muldrotha, the Gravetide and Sythis, Harvest's Hand decks run it at rates well above 40% inclusion for exactly that reason. Legacy and Vintage have access to faster options like Nature's Claim, so Seal of Primordium sees minimal play there outside of specific enchantress shells. It's not legal in Pioneer or Standard, but that's irrelevant to where it actually does its work.
