Runeforge Champion turns every Rune you play into a two-for-one — it tutors a copy straight into your hand the moment any Rune enters the battlefield under your control. The ask is just two mana for a 2/2, which is a fine body to attach those Runes to in the first place.

Commander is where Runeforge Champion actually matters — the Rune cycle is a casual-to-mid power tool, and Champion is the card that makes running a Rune package coherent rather than diluted. In 100-card decks, finding your one copy of Rune of Sustenance or Rune of Speed on demand is the difference between the package functioning and bricking. In Legacy, Pioneer, and Modern it has no competitive footprint; Runes simply aren't viable in those formats, and a 2/2 with a conditional tutor effect does nothing for any established archetype. Stick to Commander.
