Rune of Speed card art
Rune of Speed sticks to a creature, draws a card on entry, and grants haste — all for two mana. That's a real return on investment: the cantrip erases the card disadvantage of running an Aura, and haste means the creature threatens the turn it suits up. In Stangg, Echo Warrior builds especially, this is close to a free roll.

Stangg, Echo Warrior

Stangg, Echo Warrior

54.8% of decks · synergy 0.54

Stangg, Echo Warrior creates a token copy of himself whenever an Aura enters attached to him, so Rune of Speed doesn't just grant haste — it triggers the doubling engine and replaces itself, making it one of the most efficient pieces in the deck.

02
Three Dog, Galaxy News DJ

Three Dog, Galaxy News DJ

44.3% of decks · synergy 0.43

Three Dog, Galaxy News DJ cares about Auras and equipment suiting up creatures to spread counters and triggers across the board, and Rune of Speed pulls double duty by drawing a card and giving the equipped creature immediate attack pressure the turn it resolves.

03
Valduk, Keeper of the Flame

Valduk, Keeper of the Flame

13.7% of decks · synergy 0.13

Valduk, Keeper of the Flame generates an Elemental token for each Aura attached to him at combat, so Rune of Speed contributes to that token count while ensuring Valduk can swing the turn he hits the table.

In Commander, Rune of Speed earns its slot specifically in Aura-matters and Voltron builds — the cantrip removes the cardinal sin of Auras (card disadvantage when the creature dies), and haste is one of the most impactful keywords you can staple to a commander. Outside Commander, Rune of Speed is legal in Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, and Vintage, but it doesn't see meaningful competitive play in any of them — constructed formats demand faster, more impactful payoffs than a two-mana cantrip haste-grant. It's a Commander card through and through.
