Rebellion of the Flamekin gives every creature you control a permanent subtype — Elemental — the moment it enters, which means any Elemental tribal payoff you control starts counting your whole board instantly. Three mana for a global, persistent type grant is a real rate, and in the right shell it's simply broken.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Rebellion of the Flamekin actually belongs — Elemental tribal commanders like Omnath, Locus of the Roil or Horde of Notions immediately turn every non-Elemental creature into a tribal member, collapsing the usual tension between synergy and goodstuff picks. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but irrelevant; no competitive shell wants to spend three mana on a subtype grant when those formats close games on turn one or two. Modern has the density of Elemental payoffs to theoretically support it, but the lack of a broken engine to exploit the grant means it stays a casual novelty there. Oathbreaker mirrors the Commander verdict — tribal Elemental planeswalker strategies get real mileage out of it.

Price Context
Current price
$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Rebellion of the Flamekin is pure bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. It won't appreciate unless a new Elemental tribal commander warps demand, so buy it for the effect and expect nothing from the price.
