Pure Reflection wipes every creature off the board the moment it resolves and then turns every future creature spell your opponents cast into a vanilla 3/3 Reflection token instead — permanently taxing their board development until someone removes it. Three mana for a white enchantment that combines a sweeper and a static lock is exceptional value, held back only by the fact that it hits your creatures too.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Pure Reflection is a legitimate control piece — it single-handedly resets the board on resolution and then locks opponents into producing vanilla 3/3s, which is brutal against creature-heavy strategies but equally hurtful to the caster, so it fits best in enchantment-centric or token shells where your game plan doesn't rely on casting creatures. In Legacy, it's legal but too slow and narrow for a format full of non-creature threats and free interaction; nobody is building around it competitively. Vintage has the same problem: a three-mana enchantment that only touches creatures doesn't compete with the card-for-card efficiency of that format. Oathbreaker can support it in the same role as Commander — a hard-reset enchantment that taxes creature strategies — particularly under a planeswalker that generates value without casting creatures.

Price Context
Current price
$0.50 bulk tier
At $0.50, Pure Reflection sits firmly in bulk territory, which undervalues its effect relative to what it actually does on board. It won't spike, but picking up copies now for stax or enchantment builds is a low-risk proposition at that price.
